LDDS Test Interpretation (Cushing's)Canine

Interpret low-dose dexamethasone suppression test (LDDS/LDDST) results for Cushing's disease (hyperadrenocorticism) diagnosis in dogs. Evaluates baseline, 4-hour, and 8-hour cortisol levels after 0.01 mg/kg IV dexamethasone. 8-hour cortisol >1.4 µg/dL is consistent with Cushing's. 4-hour and 8-hour patterns help differentiate pituitary-dependent (PDH, ~85%) from adrenal-dependent (ADH, ~15%) disease. Sensitivity 85–100%, specificity 44–73%. Used for hyperadrenocorticism screening, Cushing's diagnosis, cortisol testing interpretation, pituitary vs adrenal tumor differentiation, and polyuria/polydipsia workup.
